I got Max Happiness as a gift from the Temple, but my Happiness is not maximum now. Why?
This gift sets your Happiness maximum single time, it doesn’t maintain it maximum, i.e. if your Happiness balance is negative, then your current Happiness will decrease gradually.
What damage may low Happiness cause?
Loss of population to migration, rebellion or riot which lead to no tax, no production and locked province/Colony. If a Colony is in a rebellion or a riot, you also lose the special resource bonus.
Why is my Happiness bonus for army presence in the province constantly changing?
This bonus is equal to the percentage army out of the province population number. So the smaller the number of population and the bigger the amount of deployed units, the higher Happiness bonus for army presence.
I recruited just a few units and I got -1 Happiness. Is that right?
Yes. This penalty is equal to the percentage recruited rookies out of the province population number, but it can never result in less than 1 point.
I got a huge Happiness penalty for army recruitment. Is something wrong?
No. You probably have a very small number of population in the province and since this penalty is equal to the percentage recruited rookies out of the province population number – the smaller the number of population and the relatively bigger the recruited groups, the bigger the Happiness penalty.
How do I make my Happiness positive?
Your daily Happiness balance, the one you see on the left side of the Happiness window, is a sum of the penalty you get from the set tax rate and the bonuses you get from Temple, Fortress, University, Alliance Loyalty Status, province’s location, army presence and Premium. The modifiers you can control are from: Monument, Fortress, army presence, University, Premium and tax, so the lower tax, the higher levels of these buildings and the more military units in the province provide higher Happiness balance.
How do I increase my Happiness?
By setting Festivals, building Fortresses, disbanding army, annexing provinces and founding colonies.
How do I increase my Happiness limit?
Found a colony/trading post on special resource Ivory and/or Silk; Build The Fire Summit wonder (5 points to Happiness limit); Have a Governor in the current province with the Imperial Worker skill
